We’re excited to share that Hardstaff Barriers, a part of Hill and Smith Infrastructure, has been nominated to be a finalist for the New Civil Engineer Award in the Impact in Roads category. This nomination recognises our leadership in providing top-tier services in the roads sector, highlighting our contribution to the construction and civil engineering industry.
We earned our nomination for our innovative approach to the National Highways’ safety barrier upgrade on the M40/M42 interchange. By engaging early with supply chain partners and embracing digital design from the project’s inception, we were able to assess feasibility and construction constraints, leading to the deployment of a new barrier solution, designed and trialled ahead of full implementation.
The project was completed ahead of schedule, delivering significant benefits including enhanced efficiency, reduced risks and costs, lower carbon emissions, and minimised disruption for road users.
A notable thanks should go to the teams at bmJV and SMP Alliance for their contribution to scheme’s success, and a thank you to New Civil Engineer for this recognition. We are thrilled to have been nominated and look forward to the award night regardless of the outcome.
