Business owners urged to secure their premises during Halloween
Halloween is just around the corner. Kids and adults alike are busy carving pumpkins, decorating their houses and preparing to wear their scariest outfits on the spookiest night of year.
But putting the trick or treating and fun aside, October 31 can also be one of the riskiest times of the year, particularly for burglary, criminal damage and violent crime.
During recent years, newspapers in London, Surrey, West Yorkshire, Greater Manchester, Devon, Cambridgeshire and Norfolk have reported a spike in crime on Halloween.
Hardstaff Barriers, which specialises in vacant property barriers, access control and perimeter security, is warning business owners in particular to be vigilant.
Scott Rose, a security expert, is urging companies to ensure that their premises are properly secured and that vacant property is protected with robust concrete or steel barriers.
