Pelican Colts – sponsorship
Young players from a Nottinghamshire youth football club are keener than ever about their sport despite the setbacks over the last 18 months.
Like other sports players in the county, the Covid-19 pandemic was a frustrating time for young players from the Pelican Colts Under 13s team, who were unable to compete due to lockdown restrictions.
But the club, which trains in Lenton Lane, in the city, is now stronger than before thanks to the continued support it has received from a Nottinghamshire business and from the county’s Young Elizabethan League (YEL).
Leading safety and security barrier manufacturer and supplier, Hardstaff Barriers, based in Kingston-on-Soar, has again committed to sponsoring the team’s kit this year, as it did in 2020.
The Pelican Colts is a well-respected team that has played in Nottinghamshire leagues for more than three decades. The soccer school, which can accommodate up to 300 children, is run by volunteer FA qualified coaches offering great opportunities for children.
James Houghton, Manager of the Pelicans Colts, said: “We are so grateful to extend our association with Hardstaff and thank them for helping the 19 boys involved with our club last season. We look forward to further success together.”
Despite the pandemic, the club managed to complete both the winter and spring leagues and as a result of the players’ hard work, they became runners-up in the spring league.
Dave Todd, Director of Hardstaff Barriers, said: “Once again, it’s a real pleasure to be supporting this local young team who have worked so hard, despite the challenges they have faced over the last year and a half.
“It has been an unsettling time for many, especially our young people. Sports like football have been a lifeline for many people during recent times, and we are only too happy to be supporting this local team in this way.”
